My hometown has a brand new tourist attraction. In the midst of a complete rehabilitation of the entire city center, that has been going on for the past couple of years, a brand new touristic attraction has been opened – an old flood gate that dates back to the 18th century. Timisoara was built over old city remains that dates back centuries ago, from the Austro-Hungarian period, but also from the Turkish invasion period. In fact, in most places throughout the city, if you dig deep enough you’ll most likely find remains from the old city. This one was dug up a few months ago and now it’s in full display, in 700 Square, near City Business Center. It’s not very big, but it’s certainly interesting.
